INTRODUCTION TO SILK PAINTING – DEBORAH YOUNGLAO

I’d like to invite you to an artistic encounter, where you’ll get a taste of the exciting art form of silk painting. No previous art experience of any kind is necessary! I supply all silk, dyes, resist, salt and line drawings for your use.

Silk painting has something for everyone - with flowing dyes and brilliant colors you’ll create a beautiful work of art even if you think you’re not artistic!  You’ll go home with a finished piece that you can wear as a scarf, hang on the wall or make into a cushion cover.

What you’ll learn:

  • all about materials
  • stretching the silk
  • wet-on-wet techniques
  • blending, shading
  • salt technique
  • drawing a design with resist
  • painting resisted design
  • setting the dyes

Materials fee: $18
