Description of one day workshop, “Silk Skies and other Landscape Matters” by Diane Lawrence:

Experimental approaches and unconventional applications of different resists will free the artist from sole reliance on gutta. Using these new techniques and a creative blending of colors will allow the artist to create dramatic, vibrant  skies and landscapes.

This workshop is for the artist who wants a more freedom when working with dye on silk.

Curriculum:

By using an oriental method of treating the silk and working on heavier silk a more painterly approach is explored to depict landscapes. Students will also explore the use of a palette knife with various resists to create exciting paintings.
