Materials List

Ampersand boards, fine sandpaper, acrylic pain and brushes, scissors, already printed silk transfers with various images, various papers and mixed fabrics(I have lots of paper and silk fabric, student can also bring and mixed-media materials), PVA glue, spray fixative, self-leveling gel, wax paper, assorted stamps and stencils, rulers, pencils.

 

This is the most sure fire way for me to send the class proposal info to you. It can be printed out and copied as necessary. Having difficulty sending images but will work on sending 2 and my bio. Sande

 

 

 

Class:      Create a Small Mixed-Media Piece Using Silk Transfers

 

Proposal:  A one day class combining mixed-media including paper, silk, and other fabrics and silk transfers to create a finished piece

 

Format:    Introduction to the concept of mixed-media on an Ampersand board including the use of silk (plain or previously dyed), paper, and/or other fabric 

9:00am              Introduction to the use of Silk Transfers

               Demonstration of techniques needed to adhere mixed-media to the Ampersand 

                     Demonstration of how to print or copy and fix silk transfers, Questions answered 

                     Brief Discussion of composition, materials, assembling the pieces needed for individual pieces

                     Students assemble and start to work on projects with each one reviewed 

 

11:00am   Assemble to demonstrate printing techniques including stencils, stamping, and printing on pieces

 

Lunch

12:00-

1:00pm    Continue working on boards

 

2:00pm    Assemble to demonstrate and discuss finishing pieces

               Discuss gels, finishing techniques including lightly sanding and painting the sides of the ampersand boards, how to finish pieces

3:00pm    Start to clean up 

3:30         Discussion of pieces with review of information, questions, techniques             

 

4:00pm     class finished with one finished piece
